Holy crap guys! It's October!

Where does the time go?....

It feels like I just stepped off the plane into Australia.

Yesterday was totally wicked. Bren invited me to go to the mountains with him and a few of his friends. We drove up there in a super old, but super awesome SUV. This vehicle had mega amounts of character, I loved everything about it from it's growling engine to its creaks and bangs.
We went for breakfast first, which was delicious! Awesome eggs with sausage and toast mmmmm There was also some really tasty spinach and mushrooms. God I love mushrooms [insert Homer drool here]
We eventually got on the road and drove for hours. I saw my first kangaroo! Sadly the poor guy was dead, he had been hit by a car, but I still saw it! The view on the drive was incredible! It would look like you were just driving through a forest and then you'd happen to turn your head an extra inch and you would be looking out over a cliff with a view that was just breath-taking! You could see for miles. The roads were great as well. Super twisty and sometimes you felt like you were going up at a 90 degree angle. I'll admit though, Bren's friend Ben is a fast driver and I'm a nervous passenger. When it started raining I started to get really scared about how fast we were going, but after a while I calmed down. I just closed my eyes. It usually helps when I feel nervous.
So we are going along a windy road when all of a sudden he cranks the wheel to the left and we are going through puddles and over big rocks! I have some good videos of the off-roading we did, it was really fun. This is one of the off-roading videos--->> www.youtube.com/watch?v=jykI5U…
We eventually find a real road again and continue on our way. We passed a bunch of forest that was being cut down and re-grown. When we were going through there I got to see a wallaby! It was small and quick, but I saw it! There was a second one that we saw on the way home, but I missed it that time. One thing on our way that was cool was an old train tunnel that we drove through. The horn on the SUV sounded like a train horn, so it was hilarious going through and honking it. On the way back I rode on the back of the truck and took a video going through. --->> www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGdHa5…
So we eventually find a spot that we stopped the truck at and we all get out. And guys, the impression in Canada is that Australia is always warm. Well I'm here to let all you Canadians (and I suppose other people aren't Canadian) out there know that this stereotype is wrong. Screw that shit. It was freezing! And being Canadian I've seen some cold fucken days! So we all bundle up in different layers and set off walking down a trail. We took a slight detour at one point down a steep hill where at the bottom we discovered a wicked cave. Climbed back up and continued on our way. We must have walked for about half an hour to forty mins when we found another really cool train tunnel. This one was hand dug way back when. You could see the marks on the side of the tunnel walls where the men had dug it our with pick axes. So we all walk in and I'd say about 60-70 feet in the tunnel gets completely black. I turn on the light on my phone and Bren pokes me and says: "Look up." So I do and the ceiling is covered in glow worms! It was one of the most beautiful things I have EVER seen! They looked like stars in a galaxy. There is really no way to put into words how breath-taking it was. We got further into the tunnel and sat down to wait for the glow worms to get brighter. At one point I actually started crying because the sight was so beautiful and I was thinking of all of the other people that I wished had been there to see it with me.
After a while we walked to the other end of the tunnel where there were incredible rock outcrops and lots of ferns. I went up to take a picture of one and I hear Ben behind me tell me not to get to close. At first I thought he was just trolling me, but then he told me that the ferns that I was beside would actually hit you if you touched them. So I backed away. I'm now sticking with my original plan of not touching anything unless told otherwise.
After we took in the other side of the tunnel we ended up walking back to the truck because it was going to be dark soon. As we were driving back it started to rain pretty good. We got back onto the main road and stopped at a restaurant to have some dinner. When we were leaving the restaurant it started to hail! It hailed so much that when we finally did get back on the road it looked like the road was covered in snow. I didn't think I was going to see snow for a while!

All in all it was an incredible day! Wonderful adventure that I definitely needed and one that I will not forget!
